MIROSLAV TICHY - HOMEMADE CAMERAS
Miroslav Titchy used to wander his hometown of Kyjov in the Czech Republic taking over a hundred photos a day with homemade cameras. His photos were mostly of unsuspecting women which gave him the reputation of a ‘Peeping Tom’, however his work is now celebrated all over the world.
His photos use themes of movement, composition and contrast, but with the homemade elements of his equipment his prints were full of mistakes. Tichy explained that these mistakes are what makes up the poetry. One of his best quotes in my opinion has to be “If you want to be famous, you must do something more badly than anyone in the entire world.”
Though they all look like Satoshi Kon’s heroines (and some very much like Mima Kirigoe from Perfect Blue), these pieces were pulled from the ‘Original Works/Early Works' section of the art book Kon’s Works 1982-2010.
Stunning background visuals for the Blue Exorcist Movie by art director Shinji Kimura (木村真二).
